SCROLL
The Problem
Informational material enforces low ecological engagement and has low retention and impact. Scholarship on environmental studies is rarely interpreted accessibly
The Solution
Create a more accessible and engaging introduction to contemporary ecological discourse
Drawing
Over the course of this project, I used Adobe Premiere, Procreate, Logic Pro, Audacity, and Adobe Animate. I hand drew roughly 600 frames and composed original music. Adapting to the medium required extensive research, self-reflection, and audience testing.
Over several small screenings with students and animators, I gathered responses and made edits. In the final screening, I gave the audience no context and asked them to reflect on the film. They responded positively, pointing to stylistic choices that then led them to reflect on queer ecology.

Future
In May 2024, I presented the final work in an exhibition at NYU Abu Dhabi which combined "From Black to Blue" with projects from other media. My aim is to leverage the ideas expressed in this film to discuss my capstone research in Environmental Sociology.
